SuperNOVA was established in 2013 when two visionary students approached the Osbourn Park Metal Jackets 2068 coach with a bold idea: to create a county-wide robotics team that would cater to all students in Prince William County Schools. With the support of Osbourn Park, SuperNOVA was born.
Our first year, we swung for the fences, winning Rookie All-Star award at the FRC World Championships.
SuperNOVA in our early years
In 2017, under the leadership of Karen Cinnamon and Carlos Castro, SuperNOVA moved to Woodbridge Sr. High School. Thanks to this move, we were able to give opportunities to students from all across the county. Nowadays, we accept any high school student attending a Prince William County high school without an FRC team at their school.
In 2022, we made it to the FRC World Championship. We were event finalists and took home awards at our regional competitions.
In 2026, we made team history. We made it back to the District Championship and took home our first ever award at the District Championship, the Creativity Award, for the unique design of our turret. We also took home Innovation in Control and Industrial Design at our regional tournaments.

So what is SuperNOVA’s mission? Following the trend we set our rookie year, we are a team that celebrates innovation and success. We believe getting your hands dirty is necessary for learning. No matter what school you come from or what you came in knowing, all you need for success is a willingness to put in the work. If STEM is the future, then let’s be a part of it!
Where are we going to be in 2027? We can’t tell you for sure, but our goal is to make it to the World Championship and win our division. We know it won’t be easy, but we’re counting on your support to make it possible. Please consider supporting us however you can!
